Loose stools are concerning if there is
•Blood in the stools
•Recurrent vomiting
•Stomach Pain
•Large volumes of stools
•Large numbers of stools
Increased number of semi solid stools are not worrying.
Watery diarrhea is usually due to a viral infection.
No need for ORS, if child looks well and is passing urine.
Give Curd / Butter milk,even if child has a cold / cough
Please consult a doctor when concerned or if
•Stools are large volume and occurring very frequently (7-10 times)
•Child is feeling weak or has cold hands and feet
•Urine output is less
•Child looks unwell
